There are four forms of childcare in the Netherlands: the daycare centre (KDV) for 0-4 year olds, the out-of-school care (BSO) for school-age children, care at home care by a nanny and childminder care. The latter two forms of childcare offer care for children aged 0 to 13 years. Childminder care offers care for children from 0 to 13 years. For the youngest children, from 0 to 4 years, this is about care that may take place throughout the day. Older children (4 - 13 years old) who go to primary school can go to the childcare centre for childcare before and after school and during school holidays.
A childminder takes care of a group of 4 or 5 but a maximum of 6 children at the same time in their own house. The childminder's own children are included in that count. You agree with the childminder on the number of childcare hours that suit you. Children of different ages, ranging from 0 - 4 years and 4 - 13 years, may be cared for by a childminder.
Kroostopvang has been coming (for years) to the childminder's home and knows the childminder well. Kroostopvang performs a Risk Inventory every year to assess the home and the surrounding area for safety and hygiene. The course of the care is regularly discussed and evaluated. The GGD inspector also performs an inspection.
The childminder receives an amount per hour per child, and you also pay office costs per month. The government contributes to the childcare costs in the form of a childcare allowance.
